Research Portfolio

About

Welcome to my Research Methods Portfolio! This collection showcases my development in conducting, analyzing, and presenting research throughout this semester.

As a researcher, I would describe my identity as a constructivist that explores the variety of the human experience. I tend to focus on trying to understand behaviors and attitudes towards self perception, especially in regard to social media. Interviews are my favorite form of qualitative research because the interview allows me to get a lot of intricate stories, whereas I prefer quantitative approaches for the broad patterns they help to explain.

I feel that I have matured in integrating all these approaches throughout the course of the semester. Some of these assignments included the interview guide and the survey questions which developed my capability to construct researchable questions and analyze the data. The core of my research is now situated between sympathy and calculating coldness, striking a balance that enhances the quality and applicability of the work produced.

Quantitative Research

My quantitative research included developing questionnaire's, performing statistical tests and analyzing the results. In this semester, I explored social media's role in shaping relationships and behaviors, applying statistical methods to derive meaningful results.

Annotated Bibliography

This annotated bibliography breaks down multiple sources on their findings over social media's impact on students. The works I selected focus conducting surveys and interviews and the effect of the social media on their studies, relations and personal aspects of their lives. These articles also describe the main motivation that students have in relation to Facebook and Twitter and how they use them to satisfy their desires.

Infographic

My Infographic is meant to provide a more concise overview of the positive and negative consequences of social media on college students. This is based on my findings through both my qualitative and quantitative research.
